On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Romanian President Traian Basescu participated in the review meeting of the Director’s Council and met with the Foreign Intelligence Service’s Board.

During the meeting, the Service’s activity in 2009 was analyzed, while also emphasizing SIE’s role as an active factor in the national security field, by defending and promoting Romania’s fundamental interests. Furthermore, it was reiterated the importance attached to the specific cooperation with the counterpart services within the NATO and EU realm, so as to successfully deal with the challenges of a changing complex international environment.
